Now It is Time for the
Eagles to Look to the Free Agency Market
The season has come to a close with the AFC-NFC Pro Bowl during the first
weekend in February. It is time to turn our attention to the free-agency market that
is coming up. The Eagles, after a distasterous 3-13 season, need to look into the
market for some legitimate help to sure up many of the holes in the Eagles ship.
During introduction of Andy Reid as the new head coach, owner Jeff Lurie stated that he
will overpay to get a free agent. Hopefully it will be money well spent. Read more on free agency in this month's issue of Eaglemac. |

Duce and Douglas Provided Some Positives for the Eagles Future
Ask any Eagles fan about this past season, you may get an ear-full of
superlatives about how disgusting they were. Now ask them about Duce Staley and Hugh
Douglas, and you can get into an interesting conversation about what they hold for the
future with the Eagles. A look at these two players is
the highlight of this edition of the site. |

Mike Mamula Signs 4-Year Extension
On the day prior to the start of the free agency period, the Eagles signed
defensive end Mike Mamula to a four-year extension, for a reported $11.5 million for four
years and a $2 million signing bonus. With the incentives in the agreement, if
Mamula reaches them, he could make nearly $14 million. Despite Mamula missing all of
last season due to a knee injury, the Eagles did not have many options available on the
free agency market, and the new defensive coordinator, Jim Johnson, liked him. This
will allow the Eagles to continue with the delayed experiment, having Mamula and Hugh
Douglas as the defensive ends.
Other Eagles who were restrictive free agents were tendered an offer. Some of
the notables were QB Bobby Hoying, TE Jason Dunn, WR Dietrich Jells, and TE Kaseem
Sinceno. |

Duce Is An Ace, Selected Eagles MVP
Duce Staley ended up with the task of having to replace Rickey Watters in
the backfield, due to an early season injury to Charlie Garner. So what did Duce do?
He gained over 1,000 yards rushing and showed the Eagles and their fans that he was
really an ace. For his efforts, he was selected as the Eagles MVP
from Eagles Digest. |
